For many years I suffered from several comorbidities including Barrett’s Esophagus, asthma and sleep apnoea requiring constant medication. While at an appointment I had with an endocrinologist I was classified as “Morbidly Obese”. This was a game changer for me. I knew I was obese but the word “morbid” impacted me profoundly. I had RNY in March 2018 at Toronto Western Hospital. Starting weight was 294 and have lost over 125lbs since.
Fitness interests prior to surgery: Running and other sports but couldn’t continue due to size. Activity after surgery – walking leading up to running, bootcamp, weightlifting, triathlon, foam fest, mud run and looking forward to many others. I am happy to tell all of you my story and proud of the people who go down the same path that so many have chosen looking forward to meeting you at Spring Fling
My name is Nikki and I am 41 years old. I had RNY Gastric Bypass in October 2015. My highest weight was 256 lbs and at 5’2, I was considered Obese class 4. After RNY I embraced the rules and the bible and have lost 120 lbs. I joined my local YMCA and have been committed to fitness 3-5 days a week, one of those days with a personal trainer.
I’ve participated in multiple 5K Mud Runs, last January I was in a campaign for the YMCA and I was used in posters and videos across South Western Ontario (you may have seen my billboard on the street)
I am now 4.5 years post op and I am in the best physical shape I have ever been. I am looking forward to speaking at the Spring Fling and meeting new Bariatric friends.
